Friday Smiles

It has been another week of glorious weather- I’m not sure how we are going to survive when it gets cold again.

Here are our smiles for this week;

Feb. 13– painting with Q-tips for art (Chiedza)

Feb. 14– having Valentine fun and reading all my valentines (Eabha)

Feb. 15– Ms. McLean teaching us “sink the ship” in gym (Jaida K.)

Feb. 16– playing in the gym at the Legends (Phoenix)

Feb. 17– doing stations in music with Mrs. T. (Carlee)

My smile for today is that Sachneet is back! She has been gone away since the end of November and we were all very happy to see her again this morning.

Blue Learning Journey duo-tangs will be coming home at the beginning of March with some sentence writing, the math test and another timed math sheet. I am happy to report that all the students did better this time on their timed facts!

There is no school next week. Just a reminder that I am extending my holiday until March 2. Mrs. Martineau will be in for me for the first 3 days after the break. She does not have access to the blog, Fresh Grade or my email so all communication with her will need to be through the office or in the planner.

Have a wonderful Family Day on Monday with your families, get outside and enjoy the weather! 🙂

Some of the pictures are blurry….but that is because they were so busy playing the new game!

SCC Book Exchange

Warman Elementary School Community Council

Come and Go Book Exchange

Monday March 6, 2017, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Warman Elementary School Gym

1. During the week of Feb. 27th – March 3rd, students can bring good used books to their classroom. (A rule of thumb: a book that you would welcome into your home, also appropriate for elementary aged kids.) All books will be set up Monday (March 6th) afternoon and must be brought to school before then.

2. Maximum number of books to pick up is 5. (You may bring more to school but will only be allowed to pick 5)

3. Classroom teachers will keep a tally of books brought in by students. These sheets will be at grade group tables when you show up at the gym on Monday evening.

4. When you show up at the book exchange check in at the table for your child’s grade and you will be given the number of books your children can pick up. The number of books you previously brought equal the number you can pick up that evening.

5. All participating students will be eligible to fill out entry forms to win gift certificates for our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair.

This is a family event and we encourage adults to join their children. The School Community Council wants to encourage a fun family evening that highlights the importance of reading. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to trade some of those books that are no longer read for ones that will encourage your child to spend time with a good book!

Friday Smiles

I have never been so happy to see the sun and some warmer temperatures! This has been the winter with the most bus cancellations and inside recesses as far back as I can remember. I was happy to hear that the weather forecast for next week is calling for some lovely days.

We had a great week in 2T full of lots of fun activities, here are our smiles; 🙂

Feb. 6– having an inside recess (Nevaeh)

Feb. 7– using playdoh to make things that roll, spin, push/pull and slide (Eabha)

Feb. 8– going to the computer lab and playing “All About Me” (Brennan)

Feb. 9– doing 100 day art and making us look old (Brooklyn)

Feb. 10– doing art because we got to make valentine bags (Hayden)

Here are a few pictures of our week:

Practicing our spelling words using shaving cream was a fun activity planned by Ms. McLean.

We will be celebrating Valentine’s day on Tuesday. Please send your child’s cards to school as soon as they are finished so that they can “deliver” them.

Our class is going skating on Thursday. Remember that all children who are skating need to wear a hockey or skating helmet. Bike helmets are not allowed. Parents are invited to meet us at the Legends around 1:15 to help us tie skates if they wish.

We will be having a math test on Addition and Subtraction to 18 on Thursday as well. Math books will be coming home on Tuesday as well as some other sheets we have done at school.

Next Friday the 17th the school is having a “Favourite Colour Day“. The children are encouraged to wear their favourite colour to school.

Family Book Club Celebration!

We will be celebrating our One School, One Book Club and Humphrey on Wednesday February 8th from 6:30-7:30.  It is a family event.  Pajamas can be worn.  Stuffies can be brought.  Families should bring a flashlight.

Students are to bring inside shoes or wear grippy socks – they will not be allowed into their classrooms, so some may be wanting to bring their shoes home on Wednesday after school.

In the lobby, we will be serving milk and cookies (and juice boxes for those that can’t have milk).

In the library, there will be flashlight reading.

In the gym, there will be craft activities available, drawing on the walls, decorating folders and various crossword puzzles and such.

At 7:10, we will all gather in the gym for some dancing, starting with the Hamster Dance, of course.

Friday Smiles

How can I tell that it has been a busy week? I have no pictures to show you today!

We have been doing so much learning that I forget to take pictures, I will try to remember next week. 🙂

Here is what made us smile;

Jan. 31– winning a prize in the book contest (Jaida K.)

Feb. 1– playing spelling games on the computer (Brooklyn)

Feb. 2– working on my story during writing workshop (Derek)

Feb. 3– having fun Friday (Adilyn)

Congratulations to our January pizza winners- Callie, Eabha, Brennan, Barrett, Brooklyn, Jaida K, Jaida H, Derek and Ayla. Enjoy your yummy delicious pizza! The reading goal for February is to read at least 15 days!

We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on February 9th. Don’t forget to make your “100 collection” in a water bottle.

Learning Journey duo-tangs will be coming home on Monday with some assessments I did on Missing Addends included. I am working my way through a reading comprehension and fluency assessment as well so once I have read with your child that will be coming home .

I am looking for one or two parents who would be willing and able to provide some treats for our class on February 14th. Please contact me if you would like to provide.

A note will also be coming home on Monday with all the details about our skating planned for February 16th.

Enjoy your weekend!
